Hello!Was going to post these berry jars yesterday but I had a terrible headache. If you have any tips on how to deal with a monthly hormonal headache, would love to know?!

And now to these jars!! I’m calling them Berry Swirl Jars for obvious reasonsThe one with berries on top is made from Blackcurrants and the other is Wild blueberries. The other ingredients are: plant-based yogurt & coconut cream. Keeping my creamy snacks simple
.

TURMETIC VEGGIE BURGERS

Happy Hump Day my friends! I made these delicious turmeric veggie burgers/patties few days ago for dinner and 100% of y’all voted yes for the recipe, so here you go.

Ingredients – a bag of steam veggies, I used cauliflower, broccoli and carrots (I got mine from @aldiusa), ½ cup Italian blend cheese (Romano, Parmesan, Mozzarella and Asiago also from Aldi), 1 tablespoon turmeric (I used @sarifoodscompany), sea salt, black pepper, 1 egg (#vegans can use egg substitute), 1 tablespoon of flour for binding (#glutenfree folks can use #paleo flour), arugula, cherry tomatoes, lemon use, EVOO, basil leaves and Parmesan for garnish (vegans can skip this one).

Directions – add your steam veggies into the food processer and pulse until chopped into small pieces, then move into a mixing bowl and add an egg, turmeric, Italian cheese blend, flour and mix until well combined. Using your hands, form the mixture into a veggie burger patty and pan fry on medium heat until golden. For your salad, I dressed arugula with just little bit of EVOO, squeeze of lemon juice, salt and pepper and just a tiny bit of agave for sweetness (you can skip this), added cherry tomatoes and sprinkled it with some more parmesan. That’s all y’all! Super easy, budget friendly and delicious #dinner or #lunch

My Kitchen Sink Cookies are oil-free, grain-free, gluten-free, and vegan. Hey! Stop rolling your eyes and get on board...they’re that good 
.
Ingredients:
2 flax eggs
1/4 cup coconut shreds 
5 TBSP creamy almond butter
3/4 cup almond flour, packed
1/4 cup coconut flour, packed
1/3 cup mixed nuts, crushed
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 bar 70% dark chocolate

Directions: 
Prepare flax egg and set aside. Measure out 1/3 cup mixed nuts (I used a roasted blend of almonds, cashews, brazil nuts, and pecans) and crush. Add crushed nuts to a medium bowl of almond flour, coconut flour, and coconut shreds. In a separate bowl, cream together almond butter and maple syrup. Add in flax egg to wet mixture. Mix wet mixture into the dry, and fold in chopped chocolate chunks or chips of choice. Bake for about 15 minutes on 350 degrees until edges and bottom of cookies are golden brown. I hear the wind, I hear the birds, and have occasionally seen a bear or two

But no matter what, I never ever regret going out and spending some quiet time with mother nature

The struggle to feel like you’re doing everything in your power to lose those last little pounds, or clear up your skin, is frustrating. If your in that place, I see you. I have those days. The battle is to not only take back your body, but your confidence as well. .

Not everyday is going to be a perfect, body loving day. It takes time to accept and love the journey. The first thing I notice about this picture? Those little rolls I’m packing. But what do I also notice? That smile. There’s something so powerful about a smile, and wearing it with confidence. As someone who never thought I could get to that place, that speaks way louder than a few zits or tummy rolls ever could. .

My inner dialogue has slowly turned from you need to lose weight, to look how far you’ve come. Look at how you took your life back from anxiety. Become friends with the inner critic. .

Hi friends! So as you know, I’ve been away for quite some time because I was in Japan for six weeks and had no time for blogging and anything related to social media. Moreover, having this time away gave me the opportunity to think about where I want to go with my blog and this account. I should be back to posting on a regular basis from now on, but I’ve decided that I’m going to venture outside food and align this IG with my life and interests as a whole. Isn't this smoothie bowl the best way to start your day??  I can't tell you how much nutritious goodness is packed in this bowl  because I put in my blender literally everything I consider healthy  and, believe me, there are loooots of such healthy goodies in my pantry & fridge! 🥑🥦🥒🥥 I've written in previous posts that such breakfast is the best way to make your kids start their day with the right type of food,  and this smoothie is a super powerful meal on its own, b/c it contains everything that makes a good, nutritious meal - protein, fat, fiber and tons of phytonutrients!  
I've topped the super-bowl with blueberries, 100% raw chocolate, bee pollen and hemp hearts to make everyone burst with antioxidants and energy coming from these superfoods! 
There is one more thing I do when it's summer - I pick some edible plants and leaves right from our garden and add them to the smoothie. Today, I put dandelion leaves, grape leaves, wild strawberry and raspberry leaves! What unusual ingredients do YOU add to your smoothie bowl??? Share below  РУ

I get asked all the time if I follow a specific diet and the answer is no. Unless I am following something for therapeutic purposes like when I followed the Paleo diet for my adrenal fatigue. 
Yesterday I made a vegetarian meal without intending to do so, today I am making spaghetti with grass fed beef and spaghetti squash. 
One diet isn't better than the other. If a vegan or vegetarian diet makes you feel amazing- great! If keto or paleo makes you feel like you can conquer the world- awesome. The best thing you can do for yourself is simply ask, how do I feel when I eat these foods? If you feel good than you are on the right track. 
But I have to say this vegetarian meal with @wildonionnutburger @daiya creamy ceasar dressing, coconut-bacon chips and caramelized onions was pretty fan-friggen-tastic. .

This Thai Peanut Pasta Salad for #BanzaPlusPlants is what’s going down for lunch today‍️ And lemmetellya it’s seriously SO good I grabbed the recipe off @eatbanza website for a quick and easy plant based lunch

Thai Peanut Pasta Salad:
1 box Banza rotini pasta
¼ cup + ⅛ cup Peanut Butter + 1 tablespoon honey (I used @naturenates honey peanut butter)
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon rice vinegar
3 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon sriracha
1 cup shredded red cabbage
1 cup shredded carrots
3 green onions, sliced thinly

INSTRUCTIONS
-Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and rinse under cold water until pasta is cool.
-In a small bowl, whisk together peanut butter, honey, sesame oil, soy sauce, vinegar, water and sriracha.
-Toss noodles with sauce.
-Toss cabbage, carrots and green onions with pasta.

Makes 6 cookie— recipe can be easily doubled! 
2/3 cup of oats, blended into a flour (or use pre-blended oat flour) 
2 tbsp natural peanut butter (no sugar added, I used @wild_friends)
1 tbsp ground flax seed
1 tbsp pure maple syrup 
1 banana, mashed 
1/2 tsp vanilla extract 
Pinch of sea salt 
Optional: 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips 
1. Blend oats in a blender or food processor for about 20 seconds, until it makes a flour-like consistency 
2. Combine all ingredients in a bowl 
3. Drop unto parchment paper in about 1 tbsp size portions, form into round shape.
4. Bake at 350 for 12-14 minutes. Enjoy! Store in fridge.

Today I experienced my first ever photo shoot. I observed my thoughts leading up to this morning. But what if I look silly? But what if I don’t know what to do? But what if I don’t like the way I look? You know, that negative inner critic. I asked myself, do I believe my worth is based on the way I look? I thought about it. Why am I judging myself? I could recognise this was an old pattern. An old belief. An old way of being. So I called BS! Sure, I’ve never done anything like this before so it’s going to be out of my comfort zone. And good! I am always buzzing when I’ve done something new and pushed myself. The feeling of truly living. My worth is not in the way I look. My worth is as much as I give it value. My worth is all of me, my essence, my truth. Why limit to one tiny aspect?
The day turned out magical, I worked with the lovely @katewhitaker01 who’s graceful way guided me into well, owning it really. Not to mention my inner child loving playing in the woods and feeling like a faerie! It’s good to be me, in fact its great. No more shaming! Its time for the new way of living and loving oneself️

Many of you reach out to me specifically for advice going high plant based, plant based paleo or soy free vegan.  In so, i thought it might help to share HOW i navigate menus at restaurants that aren’t ‘plant based or veggie friendly’ at first glance...

Scan the menu and look at the ingredients & sides in ALL of the dishes.  If there is a food item served with spinach or carrots, then there are spinach & carrots in the kitchen that can be used in any dish.  Most every finer dining establishment WANTS to accommodate your needs and desires and wants you to walk away with raving reviews, so simply ASK if the kitchen would be kind enough to put together a plate for you that has XYZ. .

Acknowledge that it will be priced at an entree plate and the kitchen will pull out all stops to give you what you asked for, BUT be specific.  Don’t just say ‘veggies’ or you may not get what you want.  Be clear on preferred preparations and which veggies.  This gives the server room to inquire in the kitchen or submit your order and come back with any additional inquiries if need be.

Last night i asked if the kitchen would be kind enough to make an all vegetable entree dinner platter with cooked asparagus, carrots, spinach, & mushrooms {all items i saw on the menu}. They came out with this platter which is taller than it looks packed with a based of spinach and asparagus, broccoli, grilled portobello, green beans & carrots .

1️⃣ mushrooms & spinach have some of the highest protein percentages per calorie of food.  Remember protein is just a chain of amino acids your body uses to build the chains of proteins it needs.

Many of you reach out to me specifically for advice going high plant based, plant based paleo or soy free vegan. In so, i thought it might help to share HOW i navigate menus at restaurants that aren’t ‘plant based or veggie friendly’ at first glance... . . My best dining out PRO TIP: . . Scan the menu and look at the ingredients & sides in ALL of the dishes. If there is a food item served with spinach or carrots, then there are spinach & carrots in the kitchen that can be used in any dish. Most every finer dining establishment WANTS to accommodate your needs and desires and wants you to walk away with raving reviews, so simply ASK if the kitchen would be kind enough to put together a plate for you that has XYZ. . . Acknowledge that it will be priced at an entree plate and the kitchen will pull out all stops to give you what you asked for, BUT be specific. Don’t just say ‘veggies’ or you may not get what you want. Be clear on preferred preparations and which veggies. This gives the server room to inquire in the kitchen or submit your order and come back with any additional inquiries if need be. . . Last night i asked if the kitchen would be kind enough to make an all vegetable entree dinner platter with cooked asparagus, carrots, spinach, & mushrooms {all items i saw on the menu}. They came out with this platter which is taller than it looks packed with a based of spinach and asparagus, broccoli, grilled portobello, green beans & carrots . . . But wait?!? Where’s my protein? . . 1️⃣ mushrooms & spinach have some of the highest protein percentages per calorie of food. One of my favorite principles from @nutritionschool is bio-individuality. 
There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to diet, exercise, health or wellness.  What works for you (or me) might not work for someone else, because every-body is different. 
When it comes to exercise, the key is finding what you enjoying doing.  If you don’t know what you enjoy, then try something new everyday for a week or 1 new thing a week for a month. Try out a new class or studio (and remember everyone took a first class- enroll a friend to join you if that will help get you there), do a video online or a dvd, do some yoga, go for a walk, run, bike ride- anything. 
Even if it starts with 10 minutes a day and you work your way up from there - just take the time FOR YOU to move daily, paying attention to what brings you the most joy and feels the best for your body... then do more of that! 
Trust your body and move because you can- you’re stronger than you think.
Most importantly breathe, have fun and celebrate your improvements over time  !

If this blackberry had cheeks, I would pinch them right off! Chowin' down on some nutritious food this morning and feeling so blessed to do so! I never seem to get tired of these tasty root tubers -- yams and sweet potatoes. There is a difference between the two, mainly based on where yams and sweet potatoes originate from. From a flavor standpoint, the orange garnet is a bit sweeter than the purple Japanese sweet potato which has a distinct nutty flavor (at least to my palate!) My faveorite preparation is to sauté in a little bit of oil with a pinch of salt. Add some fresh rosemary or thyme for a little extra flavor!

Even though it's hot outside, my body always loves a good bowl of SOUP!
I also LOVE how convenient it is to meal prep soups and stews  .

the scp: 
cauliflower leek soup
8 cups of @pacificfoods chicken bone broth (or 2 containers worth)
1 head of cauliflower, chopped 
1 leek, chopped
2T olive oil
1 yellow onion
4 cloves of garlic, minced
1/2 tsp turmeric
1/8 tsp oregano or your other favorite spices
s&p to taste
to a large pot add the olive oil and sauté the garlic and onions until the onions are translucent
add the cauliflower, leek, bone broth, and spices
heat on high until the entire soup comes to a boil, then turn to simmer for 20-30 minutes. topped with micro greens!

Feeling all sorts of weird self doubt today (and all this week tbh). I am lacking clarity in what I want from life and where I see myself going. As someone who is very self driven, it’s weird feeling kinda like I’m just floating through life. //
I know that this is a time of transistion for me. I know that this time is meant for me to stay quiet and rest. That’s hard for me. It’s hard for me to slow down and be okay with not knowing. The wheels are rolling and things are in the process but my impatience is making things much harder. //

Afterwards, I am still thinking a lot of the same things but i feel a sense of peace. // Feeling all sorts of weird self doubt today (and all this week tbh). I am lacking clarity in what I want from life and where I see myself going. As someone who is very self driven, it’s weird feeling kinda like I’m just floating through life. // I know that this is a time of transistion for me. I know that this time is meant for me to stay quiet and rest. That’s hard for me. It’s hard for me to slow down and be okay with not knowing. The wheels are rolling and things are in the process but my impatience is making things much harder. // The beginning of the summer is always a weird time for me. I see a lot of meditation and yoga on the horizon to figure this ishhhh out . . . . Workplace WELLNESS  So excited after a super meeting today with some of my colleagues - planning a series of wellness events for the junior doctors at my hospital in June & while it's all baby steps in planning I am so JAZZED about it 🤣🤣 You guys know how passionate I am about lifestyle and preventive medicine and I think us doctors gotta practise what we preach  But someone has to look out for us too - we work damn hard, and often our physical & mental health comes second to our duties  I'm hoping to centre events around movement (hello yoga!), foodie fun & meditation/mindfulness/sleep hygiene! Happy  Day!! Woke up at 5 this morning to get to work and study for a couple hours before my actual work day started (I am not a morning person so, I can’t believe I did it either) I had this for dinner last night and all I have to say is y’all NEED THIS IN YOUR LIFE ASAP.

@miyokos_kitchen sundried tomato garlic vegan cheese 
Fresh kale & spinach + minced garlic 
Bone broth + unsweetened almond milk (didn’t measure) 
Pink salt + red pepper flakes+ garlic powder
~Directions~
I sautéed the greens in garlic and Avo oil till fully cooked. I added the vegan cheese to the pan and add bone broth and almond milk to get that creamy cheesy consistency. You can add as much or as little as you’d like depending on how thick of a sauce you want. Lastly add the pasta and combine and you have the perfect comforting meal!

I woke up around midnight with a sudden head cold 🤧 Stuffy head, cough, sore throat, etc. So all I wanted this morning was a warm bowl of proats and a huge almond milk latte. ️

WHAT WENT DOWN:
• 1/2 C rolled oats, cooked in water
• 1/2 scoop @imprettyfit vanilla whey isolate protein*
• organic grapes + frozen blackberries
• @delightedbydesserthummus snickerdoodle hummus (cause why not? 🤷‍️)
• a huge mound of @wild_friends almond cashew super butter
• slivered almonds
• a pinch of @manitobaharvest hemp hearts (or “sprinkles” as I call them around here )

Now it’s time to get busy trying to find a way to entertain these nuggets for the next umpteen hours...🤔
