The Fight in the West for the 8th Seed
Another season goes by, and the Western Conference gets stronger yet again. So with the West bulking up on teams, that will contend for a playoff spot, it’s going to be a tight race for the 8th seed. To make it easy, here’s a list of the teams that are playoff locks this upcoming season: Lakers, Clippers, Warriors, Rockets, Nuggets, Blazers, Jazz. If all goes well and nobody significant gets injured, we’ll most likely see those 7 teams come April next year. Now that’s only 7 teams, and there’s 8 spots in the playoffs. So who will be that 8th team? Is it the Spurs? Kings? Mavericks? Pelicans? Timberwolves? Or maybe it’s an overlooked team like the Suns or Grizzlies, that might take the next step.
My pick for the last playoff spot, is the Spurs. If there one thing I’ve learned from watching the NBA these past couple years, is that you never doubt Greg Popovich. He’s the greatest coach of all time, and I believe in him to work his magic yet again. Not only do they have Popovich, but Dejounte Murray, a young lockdown defender, and Lonnie Walker are both returning from injury. I have all the faith in the world on Coach Popovich to lead this team to a 23rd straight postseason appearance.
All I know is that it’s going to be a fight till the last game of the season, for the 8th seed in the Western Conference and it’s going to be fun to watch🍿
